1000+ podcasts edited

March 02, 2024

I did some very basic addition the other day and realized that I have - with a good margin of certainty - passed a podcasting milestone of sorts: I have edited well over 1000 podcast episodes.

Two more just today, in fact. It has been a rather intensive week on the podcast front.

It probably sounds like the most obvious statement possible, but I really feel that I have become quite a bit better at it over time. Perhaps even more so in the past year or so, as I have begun editing episodes for others. Editing your own thing is great because it makes you care about the details, but editing for others detaches you in a way which feels very useful too. Which edits really do make a difference, and which have I done because I was just focusing too much on the sound of my own voice? I have become much better at not fiddling with minute details, but rather go in and do the important things in efficient ways. A healthy dose of professionalism, if you will.

In the same vein, my routines around editing have become better and faster too. I procrastinate less about editing, and I am better at fitting editing in between other activities (no longer telling myself editing needs a long uninterrupted block of time to get done). Episodes simply get done faster, and with the same or better results than before.

On that note: Do you know of a (probably tech-related) podcast in need of an editor? Get in touch!

Cheers to 1000 episodes, now on to the next 1000!
