We pay people to come clean our home every now and then. It is undeniably great to get your home cleaned up for you. (And yes: I still feel strange about paying someone else to clean up after me.)
However, having someone trying to do their job while you are also in the house never ceases to feel awkward for me.
Yes, I live (and frequently work) here. I am pretty much free to make the rules as I wish.
But they are here just trying to do their job in peace, and they will probably only do it better the less present I am.
And so I walk (or, most of the time, sit, in one spot) around with the feeling of generally being in the way in my own home, staying put as much as possible so the professionals can do their work.
I know for sure that I would much prefer to not have a copy of me haunting the place like a ghost while I was trying to get work done.
Here is a weird connection: This is a Airpods pro situation - great benefits, but nothing which sparks joy in me. I would clearly be worse off without either thing, but they have enough friction points that the thought of being without either does not feel automatically bad to me.
