Sorting things out

June 25, 2023

Maestral is still messing around, indicating worrying inbetween states as it syncs files between my computers. It still has not ever actually lost anything, so I still trust it, but I am keeping a very close eye on what it is doing and how long it takes until they get this crash situation sorted out.

Also lost, in so many ways: Russia. Yesterday was in itself anticlimactic, but wow, is everything ever a mess over there. It will be very interesting to see what kind of sense is made out of this sequence of events in the future.

There, Maestral seems to have sorted itself out again. I will not sit around and check for progress for Russia.

… well, not as actively anyway …

Review remarks

The big project, mentally, for this weekend was that I sat down and both recorded and edited my thoughts about the Dell 6K monitor (U3224KB as it is known by its friends). It will go out as Tuesday's episode of Kodsnack, and I think it is my favourite "monologue episode" so far.

Having written more than 2000 words about it (those will eventually land as a post here), I knew pretty well what I wanted to cover. I think I managed to avoid sounding as if I was reading from a script by having written all of the text in English, but speaking in Swedish and so more or less using the text as the order in which to hit points and make notes of details.

I am not all that good at sitting down and editing text once I have written it, but the subject of the Dell monitor has seen a lot of mental editing and thought refinement over the weeks while and after I used it. The discussions in Björeman // Melin // Åhs, especially, have contributed a lot to me finding words to put on loose thoughts and feelings.

I could probably write another 2000 words covering other aspects if I had just thought of them. And also probably cut and refine many hundreds of words were I a better editor. But I feel the text I have contributes my perspective in a good way, and has enough of a thread through it that the things I cover make some kind of sense together.

All I am saying is, I think, that I enjoy writing - and podcasting - and I hope the results will be fun for any recipients as well.
