Done, more

June 15, 2023

As I was lying in bed last night, thinking about what I want to accomplish to feel happy today, I realized I could apply another little habit I have heard about as a way to get closer to feeling more done more easily: The separate list with just the main themes which would make a good day. Martin and I touched on the idea in the latest episode of Synk, so I guess that is what made it pop up now.

Anyway, the idea is to not get lost in a sea of small details but instead try to think about what would make a good day on a just slightly higher level. I have as many items on my todo lists as always, but what will make this a good day from where I sit right now (I write, sipping my morning tea) breaks down very nicely into a simple three-bullet list:

I never feel good if I miss my exercise, so that is very simple and clear. Same thing for work; at this level, it does not really matter what exactly I end up doing as long as I am making progress on useful things. For work details, I have Slacks and Jiras full of items to process. Finally, 6K is about making progress with my monitor test. I should be packing up and returning the 6K monitor very soon, and I have a sea of ideas for things I could do or say or write about it. It does not really matter to my feeling which particular idea I go for, or even how far I get with it, what matters is that I move the project of doing creative stuff around the monitor theme (if you will) forward.

Look, I even brought out my old Theme system journal and wrote down my list on a new page all of its own. Will I be sucked into the world of pens and paper next?

Anyway

Work, exercise, 6K.

Time to get to it.
