Speaking of the social

January 25, 2023

Blogging feels social again.

This I did not expect.

Actually, I should perhaps take "again" back: I have been writing on my site for quite a while, and it has never felt this social. This live. As if the things I write are actually - to some small degree - part of a larger conversation.

Yes, today was office day, office full of people, and then meetup evening, at different office full of people. It has been a long time since I attended a meetup, and even longer since this particular group arranged one, but everything was just as nice as it always used to be. To such a degree, in fact, that it felt like jumping back in time. Remember what the world was like when we all did this every now and then? It was just like this! That was great, was it not? Surely, we can not have that back, can we? I mean, a meetup like this must be a thing of the past, right?

I am just waiting for that harp sound and the ripple effect to bring me back to the present, where we work from home, communicate over Slack, and possibly make quick excursions to the city on weekends.

At one point, right before the presentation of the evening started, there was music playing which sounded like a very close relative to one of the tunes Slack plays when you are alone in a huddle. "What is going on? Am I really alone in here? Am I muted? Is my camera even working?!"

Pretty cosy music though, I wonder if I can ask someone what it was …
